The opening of the highly anticipated Buc-ee’s in Oak Grove has been delayed, yet again, with the Texas-based chain’s official website now projecting a 2029 debut.
The massive travel center, slated for development off Exit 89 on Interstate 24, requires extensive infrastructure upgrades before construction can begin in full. These projects include expanding roads, building a new bridge, and constructing a new water infrastructure.
According to previous reporting by Your News Edge, the project’s timeline has shifted several times since initial discussions began in March 2022.
After a brief pivot toward Clarksville, Tennessee, fell through, the Oak Grove City Council approved an incentives package in September 2024 to secure the location. Buc-ee’s finalized its property purchase at the southeast corner of I-24 and Pembroke-Oak Grove Road in mid-2025.
