A total of 27 seniors! A total of 36 scholarships! A total of $38,500.00!

Thanks to the generosity of so many people – alumni, friends of TCCHS, businesses, the Todd County Fiscal Court, Novelis, other local and area contributors, memberships, and the sale of our alumni items – the TCCHS Alumni Foundation, Inc. presented a total of $38,500.00 to the TCCHS Class of 2026 this past Thursday evening, May 7, 2026. This year some of the Foundation’s scholarships required a minimum of a 2.50 GPA, others a minimum of a 2.75, others a minimum of a 3.00, and others with a 3.50 minimum or above. As true of past years, this year saw one new scholarship added, and some other scholarships were eliminated as sponsors were not available. Of interest is the Alumni’s first scholarships were awarded in 2014, a short 13 years ago, and this year’s scholarship total brings the monies awarded to seniors of TCCHS to approximately $293,500.00 in that 13-year period.

This year again saw the Foundation award our highest scholarship amount. That scholarship, the George and Vicki Hall Kennedy Academic or Technical Scholarship in the amount of $5000.00, was sponsored by two retired educators, George and Vicki Kenndy, who wanted to give back to Todd Central graduates and to the Alumni Foundation. Four other scholarships this year were made possible through the generosity of folks honoring the late Mrs. Joe Nell Glenn Waters and the late Bruce Marklin with scholarships again awarded in their memory. As you may know, Mrs. Waters was a long-time educator not only in Tennessee but also in Kentucky. She also served as principal at TCCHS for several years following her retirement from Tennessee. Friends and family of Ms. Joe Nell donated monies in her memory, and because of the generosity of so many, her scholarship will be funded for several years. Likewise, friends and family of the late Bruce Marklin, well-known police officer and police chief in Elkton, collected monies geared toward a scholarship in his honor. Again, because of the generosity of friends and family of the late Bruce Marklin, monies were generated to assist a student whose parent was involved with the military or police or the student had military ambitions or a JROTC background.

We invite anyone who desires to establish a scholarship to reach out to one the Foundation’s officers/directors. These include Anna Jo Parmley, president; Linda Stokes Fritz, vice-president; Laura Brock, treasurer; Carolyn Wells, secretary; and Charlotte Morrow, Sue Neeble, and Jeremy Long, directors-at-large. We also ask anyone, either a graduate of TCCHS or a friend of the Foundation, to join our efforts. Memberships are $10.00 yearly with a lifetime membership of $200.00 also an option. Earlier this year the Foundation added a Zeffy link to its website at https://tcchs-alumni.org to make online donations possible to support the Foundation. The Foundation has set a goal this calendar year to have 125 members, and we invite anyone, either a graduate or a friend of the Foundation, to help us reach that goal. Please remember membership monies help fund our scholarship effort. Memberships can also be mailed to the TCCHS Alumni Foundation at P.O. Box 611, Elkton, KY 42220.

As members of the TCCHS Alumni Foundation, we congratulate all the winners, and we commend the many who contribute to make these scholarships possible. We also extend to each member of the TCCHS Class of 2026 the very best as they exit TCCHS and begin their lives past our alma mater. We also applaud their tenacity in meeting the requirements necessary for graduation.
