City to Rename Several Roads

City officials are hoping to reduce confusion for emergency personnel and delivery drivers alike.

Elkton City Council approved the first reading of three ordinances to rename streets in the Oaks Subdivision.

Mayor Arthur Green says the confusion has been building for some time.

click to download audioA second reading of the ordinances will be at the June City Council meeting. Meanwhile, City Council approved the second reading of the ordinance rezoning the Oaks Subdivision from Business to Residential.

Council also approved the second reading of the Animal Ordinance amendment, which requires registering chickens within the city limits and bans roosters.

The Council heard recommendations from the Planning and Zoning Commission about rezoning the Nazarene Church property and approved the first reading of an ordinance to do so.
