In the past five years, the economy in Todd County and the region as a whole has seen substantial development.
South Western Kentucky Economic Development Council (SWKEDC) Director Carter Hendricks says in addition to the considerable residential growth in Todd County, many companies have either expanded in or chosen to locate to the county, perhaps the most prominent being the recent Novelis expansion project.
There have also been plenty of other expansion projects and relocations throughout the region as a whole, resulting in 2,700 new jobs announced since 2020 and over $110,000,000 in new payroll.
Additionally, tourism directors across the three-county region have reported record numbers in transit room tax collection, a way organizations like the SWKEDC can measure tourism activity in an area.
Hendricks says this is one of many examples of how large capital investment projects can have a ripple effect through local economies. He adds the region has seen a lot of good activity that has put a large amount of money into the economy, both in Todd County and beyond.
