WEKT hosted its Grand FAN-ale Thursday afternoon at Haley Hardware in Elkton, thanking the community for its donations in June.

The campaign was a unique way to give back to the community, according to Edge Media Group President Beth Mann.

Todd County Community Service Coordinator Misty Owen thanked the community for stepping up hugely.

Owen added that they are working hard to distribute all the fans to those in need.

As of Friday morning, the campaign had collected 88 fans and three window unit air conditioners, with more donations expected to come in before June 30th.

Among the major donations to the campaign were $200 from the Elkton Rotary Club, $333 from the Back-to-Back Foundation, 27 box fans from the Tennessee Valley Authority, among others who wished to remain anonymous.

Donations can be purchased and left at Haley Hardware, or brought to the Todd County Public Library or the Todd County CSBG Office inside the Todd County Senior Citizens Center. Walker Automotive served as the headline sponsor for WEKT’s three remote broadcasts at Haley Hardware.
