Todd County Central High School Alumni Spotlight: Anita Gibbs-McClain

Anita Gibbs-McClain is a 1982 graduate of Todd County Central High School.

She values most from her time in school her friends and teachers, as well as all the lunch ladies. Gibbs-McClain has fond memories of home economics classes, pep rallies and ball games, but notes she will always treasure the memory of her prom. She says her teacher, Kathy Harper, gave her a dress to wear to prom since she couldn’t afford one. Prom was always such a fantasy of hers and thanks to her teacher’s kindness, she was able to dress like a princess and feel special that night. It forever impacted her life and has made her who she is today. She makes it a point now to always think of others and help when she can.

Gibbs-McClain advises current Todd Central students to enjoy their days in school, absorb knowledge and friendship, get involved in sports and clubs and simply be the best they can be.

To current educators, she says to give the students the best version of themselves, respect the learning process and most of all, love their job enough to sacrifice time and effort for the students.

She later attended Hopkinsville Community College and graduated in 2010 with an associate’s degree in business and accounting.

Gibbs-McClain was born in Elkton and currently lives there today with her husband, David McClain, with whom she has been married to since 2011. She has one son, Chris Driskill.
