Gas Prices Inch Lower For the First Time In Weeks

For the first time in several weeks, gas prices in western Kentucky saw a slight drop this week and remain lower than the same time last year.

According to the AAA price report, the average price of a gallon of regular gas is $3.18, down nine cents from last week and eight cents lower than a year ago this week.

The report said gas prices are settling into a pattern like last year when the usual seasonal increases were slow and steady.

In Todd County, the price for a gallon of gas was $3.19 in Elkton and $3.25 in Guthrie.

Other statewide locations showed gas at $3.12 in Owensboro, and $3.19 in Bowling Green, and $3.24 in Paducah.

According to new data from the Energy Information Administration, lower demand would typically contribute to pushing pump prices lower or slowing increases, but rising oil prices have kept them elevated instead.
