Todd County Offering Free Hunter Education Safety Course

The Kentucky Department of Fish and Wildlife is offering a free three-day Hunter Education Safety course for the public March 21-23.

The course will feature two evening classes on the 21st and 22nd from 6 – 9 p.m. at the 1976 Courthouse on Washington St. in Elkton. The last day will be a morning of range work at the Todd County Gun Club from 7 – 8:30 a.m.

Perry Stokes with the course says all three days are required to receive the orange Hunter Education Card something that is mandatory for every hunter over the age of 12 in Kentucky.

He adds the class will cover everything from basic first aid to survival skills to gun safety.

The course is offered every March and September in preparation for youth turkey season beginning in April and youth deer season beginning in October.

There are limited spots available for this month’s class. Pre-register online here on the Hunter Education page.
