Memorial services for 75-year-old Samuel Dennis “Sammy” Turner, Sr., of Elkton, will be 11 AM Thursday at Hopkinsville’s First United Methodist Church.
There will be a masonic service prior to the memorial.
Visitation will be from 9-11 AM.
Survivors include:
His wife, Paula Wright Turner, of Elkton;
Son, Samuel Dennis Turner, Jr., of Bon Aqua, Tennessee;
Daughters, Lisa Diane Turner Embry (Brian), of Grand Junction, Colorado, Keri Turner, of Chattanooga, Tennessee, and Laura Young, of Williamsport, Pennsylvania;
Brothers, James Rogers Turner (Linda), of Plano, Texas, Billy Ray Turner (Linda), of Trenton, and Gifford Wade Turner (Teresa), of Eddyville;
Sisters, Alberta Ann Washer (Gene), of Clarksville, Tennessee, and Betty Smith (Kerry) of Palmyra, Tennessee;
Uncle, Dillie Turner (Mary), of Elkton;
Seven grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren.
Latham Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Rev. Dan Huck is officiating.
He died at 7:05 a.m., Sunday, March 10, 2024, at his residence.
Turner was born February 17, 1949, in Brazil, Indiana.
He had been the Golf Course Superintendent for Cherry Grove Golf Course in Trenton.
He was a member of Hopkinsville First United Methodist Church and the Guthrie-Trenton Vesper Masonic Lodge #190 in Guthrie.
He loved to fish, golf, raise a garden and help the group of people who build the handicap ramps for others. He was preceded in death by his parents, William Rogers “Rube” Turner and Emma Jean Diel Turner, and his daughter, Katherine Denise Turner.
