Mansfield, Turner, And Penick Secure Big Wins In Todd County Primary

Unofficial results from the Tuesday primary election are in, providing a clear picture of where Todd County voters stand ahead of the November General Election.

According to cumulative reports released Tuesday evening by the Todd County Clerk’s Office, 1,755 ballots were cast across the county.

In the race for County Judge/Executive, incumbent Todd Mansfield secured a commanding victory in the primary, picking up 872 votes over challenger Kent Knight, who finished with 179 votes.

For Todd County Sheriff, Patrick Turner won the night convincingly, capturing 749 votes compared to Mitch Frazier’s 316 votes.

Incumbent Jeff Penick emerged on top in the race for Jailer, earning 675 votes to defeat Michael Trimmer, who brought in 366 votes.

In the 2nd Magisterial District, Brad Fortner narrowly edged out the competition in a tight four-way race with 89 votes. Curt Boley followed closely behind with 83 votes, Kathy Jo Morgan received 78 votes, and Travis K. Combs finished with 51 votes.

Those four races will not face any opposition in the November General Election.

Meanwhile, in the 4th Magisterial District, Cynthia “Cindy” McKinney claimed a decisive victory, garnering 131 votes over William “Pete Cole” Drane, who received 57 votes. McKinney, a Democrat, will face Republican incumbent  Henry “Boogie” Oliver, II, in November.

Incumbent Congressman James R. Comer easily carried Todd County in the 1st Congressional District race, securing 856 votes. David Sims finished a distant second with 59 votes, followed by Robert James Sutherby with 47 votes and Penny Arcos with 28 votes.

Todd County voters also weighed in heavily on the packed U.S. Senate primary choices for both parties. On the Republican ticket for United States Senator, Andy Barr dominated the field locally with 617 votes, with Daniel Cameron following in second at 215 votes and Nate Morris picking up 74 votes. On the Democrat ticket, Amy McGrath led the local vote with 261 votes, followed by Charles Booker with 168 votes, and Joshua Blanton Sr. with 55 votes.
