Two people have been charged after a teenager was hit by a vehicle on East Jefferson Davis Highway in Todd County on Friday night.

Todd County Sheriff’s deputies say 16-year-old Gunnar Earwood was walking with another juvenile when he was hit by a truck driven by 37-year-old Abraham Garcia of Elkton, tossing Earwood 20 feet off the road just past Allensville Street.

Earwood was taken by ambulance to a Clarksville hospital due to his injuries.

After receiving a tip from someone in the community who called after seeing the WEKT story, deputies say they located Abraham Garcia and his passenger, along with the truck, at the Royal Arms Apartments.

Abraham Garcia was arrested and charged with DUI, second-degree assault, first-degree wanton endangerment, driving without a license, and leaving the scene of an accident.

Abraham Garcia’s passenger, 23-year-old Israel Garcia, was also arrested and charged with complicity to first-degree wanton endangerment, complicity to second-degree assault, and leaving the scene of an accident.
