Business leader Michael Andrews wears many hats in the Todd County community.
Originally from Todd County, Andrews was born and raised on a family farm in the Guthrie area. Growing up, he was always around farming and cooking, which he has taken into his adult life as well.
Andrews worked with the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) for 40 years until he retired. Since retiring, he has then opened a food truck, began farming again, serves on the Kentucky State University Extension Service and mentors young African American men in the county.
Andrews is the “King Fish” of Homeboy BBQ and King Fish, which he began with his friend Eddie Henry. The two take the truck to many local events throughout Todd County and sometimes into Tennessee as well. Andrews says the duo cooks everything on-site.
He says he’s recently been getting into growing fresh produce at his farm. He also distributes produce to the western portion of the state through the nonprofit Black Soil –
– with the help from kids he teaches at church.
