Historic Todd County, Inc. (HTC) invites the community to assist HTC with its fundraising efforts for the Historic 1835 Courthouse.
The date for this year’s winter fundraiser will be Monday, February 23, 2026, at the POPs building located at 201 East Main Street in Elkton. This venue will allow many business owners and citizens a very central location for a nutritious lunch. Time for the event will be from 11:00 AM until 1:00 PM to allow folks to plan around their lunch schedules; cost for the lunch will be donations only. Foods to be served will include vegetable beef or potato soup; chili; pimento cheese or chicken salad sandwiches; a variety of desserts; and bottled water and soft drinks. Plans also include providing carry-outs for those needing to pick up lunches for others or themselves. A pre-order pick up form is available online on HTC’s Facebook Page. A link to the form is https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSdZZK-am9qOsYdxK8BeCO721zh6yI0unP4zVTv6B6qBYfbFEQ/viewform.
Many may not be aware that HTC, with the assistance and approval of the Todd County Fiscal Court, has applied for a Community Based Development Grant (CBDG) that HTC is hopeful will be approved in the next few months. If approved, plans are to add handicapped accessibility to the Courthouse via a shaft elevator that will connect the first floor to the second. Handicapped restrooms are also slated as a part of the CBDG grant. Hopefully as well within the next few months both east and west exterior doors, sidelights, and transoms will be replaced. The new mahogany doors, which are currently being built by Carlisle Milling Products of Fancy Farm, Kentucky, will add a much-needed replacement of the exterior doors at the Courthouse. As you may recall, the south door was replaced a few years ago.
Carolyn Farmer and Jennifer Gibson have already committed to preparing the soups and chili, and Schlabach’s Bakery and Dutch Kuntry will be providing the desserts, pimento cheese, and chicken salad for the sandwiches. We do ask the public to assist us in “spreading the word” about our fundraiser. Oftentimes many are not aware of events in our community, and HTC asks that you please share the details of the event with family members, friends, fellow church members, business owners, neighbors, factory workers, and other folks you know. We all realize the success of an event centers on publicity, and we are hopeful the 2026 “Lunch with HTC” will be another very popular community and fundraising event. Facebook is also being utilized to promote the event on Historic Todd County, Inc.’s Facebook page, and we ask you please share our fundraiser with as many people as possible. Obviously, our success depends upon your continued generosity, and we hope you will place Monday, February 23, 2026, on your February calendar. HTC also plans to have our 250-Year USA T-shirts that were first offered at HarvestFest in September. Again, we look forward to seeing you there!
