Latest update from Todd County Emergency Management Director Ash Groves:
Todd County Emergency Management advises that road conditions remain hazardous this Monday morning. Any melting that occurred yesterday has refrozen overnight, resulting in slick and dangerous travel conditions across much of the county.
Residents are strongly encouraged to stay off roadways as much as possible to allow county and state road crews adequate time and space to re-treat and plow roads. As sunlight increases later today, officials anticipate a gradual improvement, but travel remains dangerous at this time.
Electric service has been restored to most, if not all, areas of Todd County. Todd County Emergency Management will continue to monitor conditions and will keep warming, and respite centers on standby should needs re-emerge.
With extremely cold temperatures expected to persist throughout the week, residents are urged to:
- Stay warm and hydrated
- Monitor indoor plumbing and outdoor faucets for freezing
- Take steps to prevent frozen or burst pipes
- Residents are also strongly encouraged to check on neighbors, family members, and others who may be particularly vulnerable to cold weather or recent power disruptions, including seniors, individuals with medical needs, and those without reliable heat.
If you or someone you know experiences heating or power-related issues, please notify Todd County Emergency Management through the non-emergency dispatch number at 270-265-2501 or 270-265-2502.
Please do not call 911 unless there is an immediate emergency.
Todd County Emergency Management will continue to monitor conditions and provide updates as necessary. For official information, continue to WEKT and the Todd County Emergency Management Facebook page.
