An Elkton man was charged with trafficking drugs after law enforcement checked on him while parked in a gas station parking lot Thursday morning.
Guthrie Police say they noticed two people in a truck that ducked down when officers pulled into the gas station, then moved to a different parking spot on the other side of the parking lot.
After checking the registration on the vehicle, it was reportedly found to be expired, and the registration did not match the vehicle.
Police say the driver, 19-year-old Sebastian Rodriguez, was putting on pants in the driver’s seat when approached by law enforcement and showed signs of being intoxicated.
The 16-year-old passenger reportedly told law enforcement she had snuck out of her home.
After a search of the truck, Police say needles, a powder substance, Xanax pills, a jar containing fentanyl, unknown pills, a digital scale, a handgun, and items consistent with packaging narcotics were found.
Police say Rodriguez was also found to have cocaine inside his necklace while at the jail. The juvenile was released to her guardian.
Rodriguez is charged with first-degree promoting contraband, first-degree unlawful transaction with a minor, possession of a handgun by a convicted felon, possession of cocaine, no registration plates, possession of fentanyl, first-degree trafficking in a controlled substance, and public intoxication.
