An Elkton man was charged with assaulting a deputy after a report of a disturbance on Tress Shop Road in Todd County Saturday night.

Todd County Sheriff’s deputies say they were called to a disturbance with 39-year-old Caleb Valverde, who had forcefully removed a thermostat from a wall and was extremely aggravated.

While being arrested, he reportedly slammed the door into the deputy’s arm and body and proceeded to flee into a room.

Deputies say he resisted arrest and would not follow commands, but was ultimately taken into custody.

Valverde is charged with obstructing governmental operations, fourth-degree assault, third-degree assault of a police officer, resisting arrest, and attempted first-degree fleeing or evading police.
