Four students from Todd County Central High School recently attended the District 6710 Rotary Youth Leadership Awards (RYLA), an intensive leadership experience in which they developed leadership skills while having fun and making connections.

During Wednesday’s meeting of Elkton Rotary, Sophomore Ava Reed thanked the Rotarians for allowing her to experience the weekend.

Sophomore Lucas Stratton added that the weekend was a bit nerve-racking for him initially.

Senior Anna Mallory said that RYLA is all about working as a team, not what one can do alone. Senior Amir Merriweather also participated in the trip.

The students took part in service projects like ‘Love the Hungry,’ which created food boxes to send to shelters around the world, and also stuffed bears.

Each year, the Elkton Rotary Club pays the registration fees for a select number of students to attend the RYLA Camp. All four are members of the TCCHS Interact Club.
