Several Thefts From Vehicles Reported In Elkton

As a result of several thefts from motor vehicles, police remind citizens of the juvenile curfew ordinance.

Elkton Police say they received over 20 reports of thefts from a vehicle in the area of East Main Street, Washington Street, Perry Street, Streets Avenue, Duke Street, Marion Street, Olive Street, and College Street.

One vehicle that the keys were reportedly left inside was stolen but later recovered.

Law enforcement believes the thefts were committed by a group of juveniles and remind parents that they will be enforcing a juvenile curfew ordinance that states anyone under the age of 18 years old must be accompanied by an adult if outside from 11 pm to 6 am on Sunday night through Friday morning and 1 am to 6 am from Friday night to Sunday morning.

Police say there are exemptions for school events and religious events. Any juvenile caught not following the ordinance will be taken home, and the parents could be cited.

Police ask anyone who may have video footage of the suspects or has exterior cameras on their business or home to email jsmith@elktonky.com or come by the Elkton Police Department.
