WEKT’s Cooling Our Communities campaign, a new initiative aimed at providing relief from the heat for those in need, hosted its second broadcast Thursday afternoon, with donations open until the end of the month.
During Thursday’s broadcast, nine more box fans were collected, bringing the total donated at Haley Hardware this month to 35 box fans and one window-unit air conditioner.
Though numerous sponsors contributed to the broadcasts, Walker Automotive of Elkton stepped up as the presenting sponsor. According to owner Eric Walker, giving back is always a priority for his company.
Petrie Memorial Methodist Church Pastor Willard Knipp understood the need firsthand, both as a pastor and from growing up without central AC.
Knipp thanked the community for stepping up to help with the effort.
You can purchase box fans for $22.99 each at Haley Hardware and leave them there; WEKT will ensure their delivery to the Todd County CSBG program. New fans can also be dropped off directly at the CSBG office inside the Todd County Senior Center or the Todd County Public Library. Find more details here.
