Woman Dies At Hospital After Pembroke Road Crash

A bicyclist died at the hospital after a crash on Pembroke Road in Hopkinsville Monday afternoon.

Hopkinsville Police say an eastbound SUV hit four bicyclists between Pennyrile Parkway and Eagle Way.

Two women who were on bikes were taken by Hopkinsville EMS, one with CPR in progress to Jennie Stuart Health before she was later flown to a Nashville hospital, the second woman was taken right away to a waiting helicopter that took her to a Nashville hospital.

Several people stopped after the crash and started CPR before emergency personnel arrived. One of the bicyclists, 31-year-old Marlene Martin, died from her injuries Tuesday at the hospital, and the second woman, 34-year-old Rachel Hoover, remains in critical condition in a Nashville hospital.

The driver of the SUV, 30-year-old Isaiah Edwards of Radcliff, was arrested after the crash and is charged with operating a motor vehicle under the influence third offense, according to the Christian County Jail.
