WEKT is hosting a Thursday food drive to help the Todd County Schools FRYSC programs make summer food baskets.
The donation drive has already received a few early donations, including a check from Hopkinsville’s Back2Back Foundation, founded by country singer/songwriter Brice Long.
Back2Back’s Brent Gilkey said they were glad to support the effort.
Gilkey shared a bit of the story of how the organization was founded.
This year’s Back2Back benefit show will be held at the Alhambra Theatre in Hopkinsville on Saturday, July 12th. The organization has raised over $1.1 million since 2005.
Gilkey shared a bit of encouragement about the Todd County food drive.
The food drive will be held in conjunction with live broadcasts at the Food Giant in Guthrie, Thursday morning from 11:00 to Noon, and at the Elkton location from 1:00 to 2:00 PM.
WEKT will also host a tailgate broadcast from 4:30 to 5:30 PM on Thursday at the Todd County and Fort Campbell softball game at Todd County Central High School for a final push for donations.
