During Todd County Fiscal Court’s meeting last week, magistrates approved a contract with the state for $1.75 million in funding for local parks and the TCCHS Technology Center.

According to the contact approved, the fiscal court can choose to spend the funds on upgrades and equipment for county and city parks, and the high school technology center. Projects can include construction, installation, maintenance, and renovations of ballfields, concession stands, dugouts, fencing, infrastructure upgrades, park facilities, parking lots, purchases of amenities and equipment, professional services, and site preparation.

At a fiscal court meeting earlier this summer, Judge-Executive Todd Mansfield said that officials at each park could bring the needs to their attention so that the court would decide what projects to fund. School officials will also do the same.

According to the contract, the $1.75 million must be distributed and projects completed by June 30, 2025. The funding was made possible by the 2024 General Assembly with the passage of House Bill 1.
