James Turner, 93, of Guthrie

The Cook-Webb Funeral Home is honored to have been called to serve the family of Mr. James Turner.

Mr. James Turner, age 93 of Guthrie, passed away on Friday, August 16th at his residence.

Mr. Turner was born April 22, 1931, in Allensville, Kentucky son of the late Waltus and Bernice Harris Turner.

He was a member of the Gill’s Chapel Cumberland Presbyterian Church, served in the United States Air Force, fought in the Korean War, and was the owner of Guthrie Auto Sales He was also a member of the Guthrie Bethel Vesper Masonic Lodge #669 F&AM. He loved farming, his family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Waltus and Bernice Harris Turner as well as his wife, Blanche Turner; one daughter, Debbie Turner and one sister, Dorothy Miller. He is survived by two sons, James Turner, Jr. and wife, Pam and Timmy Turner both of Guthrie; two daughters, Janie Phillips and Angela Blankenship and husband, Kenneth both of Guthrie; one brother, John L. Turner of Florida as well as sixteen grandchildren, thirty-nine great-grandchildren and ten great-great grandchildren.

Visitation with the family will be held on Sunday, August 18th from 5:00 until 8:00 at the Cook-Webb Funeral Home. The funeral service is scheduled to be conducted on Monday afternoon at 1:00 in the Chapel of the Cook-Webb Funeral Home with Reverend Fred Polochec and Reverend Kimbrough Simmons officiating. Interment to follow at the Highland Cemetery in Guthrie.

Instead of flowers donations can be made in memory of Mr. Turner to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place Memphis, Tennessee 38105, or to Pennyroyal Hospice, 220 Burley Avenue Hopkinsville, Kentucky 42240.
