Three Women Indicted For Elkton Man’s Death

Three women were indicted this week by the Todd County Grand Jury in connection to the June 14th overdose death of an Elkton man.

32-year-old Whitney Renee Harper, of Hopkinsville was indicted on second-degree manslaughter.

An investigation launched by the Todd County Sheriff’s Office and the Pennyrile Narcotics Taskforce revealed that Harper had supplied fentanyl to 21-year-old Jordan Moorefield. He was found to have died of a fentanyl overdose.

Additionally, 63-year-old Kimberly Ann Moorefield, of Hopkinsville, and 41-year-old Shannon L. Moorefield, of Elkton, were indicted each on second-degree complicity to manslaughter charges. Kimberly was Jordan’s grandmother, and Shannon was his mother.

According to the indictment, Kimberly gave the fentanyl to Shannon, who then gave it to her son. Shannon was also indicted on charges of trafficking in a controlled substance – carfentanil or fentanyl derivatives, first-degree and third-degree trafficking in a controlled substance – drug unspecified, and first-degree persistent felony offender.

The indictment also stated that Shannon distributed oxycodone and gabapentin to her son.

All three are lodged in the Todd County Detention Center with Kimberly under a $500,000 bond. Shannon and Harper each have $250,000 bonds.
