WEKT wrapped up its second annual Cooling Our Communities campaign, drawing even greater support than the inaugural event.
When all donations were counted by late Tuesday afternoon, 105 box fans and 4 window air conditioners were donated during the month-long effort.
Misty Owen, who works for Pennyrile Allied Community Services as the Todd County Community Service Coordinator, said the need for fans and AC units is great again this year.
Owen added that they have a program coming in August to help out with electricity bills.
Owen said that low-income seniors and families in need of assistance can call (270) 265-5422 to be added to the list for a fan or learn more about the August program.
This year’s effort was sponsored by the presenting sponsor, Bordeau Metals in Elkton. Other sponsors included The Todd County Public Library, Southern Homes Realty and Back Country Builders, Pennyroyal Hospice, Auburn Bank, and Toyota of Hopkinsville.
