A second ambulance has been added to emergency response efforts in Todd County.

Judge-Executive Todd Mansfield told Your WEKT News Edge that the service starts just two weeks after magistrates approved the expense for a second full-time crew.

Mansfield added that Com Care Inc. has served Todd County for at least 14 years, historically operating with just a single ambulance to cover the entire county. When that unit was in use, a backup ambulance from Logan County was placed on standby. Now, with the addition of a second active ambulance, a third will remain on standby whenever the first two are out on calls.

Mansfield shared that they have not forgotten about the northern end of the county.

After approving a second ambulance in April, county officials are moving up its launch date. Originally set to debut Monday, the new crew will now start on Friday to provide extra coverage ahead of the busy Memorial Day weekend.
