Dozens of Eagle Ambassadors and volunteers gathered in Oak Grove on Thursday for the annual Hams for Heroes distribution.
Shannon Lane, Director of the Southwestern Kentucky Military Affairs Committee, said that around 630 hams were distributed.
The Easter hams were sourced from Hampton Meats, made possible by generous donations from the Oak Grove Racing, Gaming, and Hotel, Eagle Ambassadors, sponsorships from the Todd, Christian, and Trigg county governments, and the cities of Oak Grove, Hopkinsville, and Madisonville. Along with the main course, recipients received a selection of sides—including green beans, corn, and macaroni and cheese—to complete their holiday meal.
Lane added that volunteers, including several local politicians, made the event a smooth success.
After the holiday weekend, Lane shared that the Southwestern Kentucky Military Affairs Committee will be a part of the Paint and Skate event at the Hopkinsville Skate Park on Saturday, April 11th.
The Paint and Skate will start at 10:00 AM.
