Construction to widen the U.S. 31-W Bypass between Fairview Avenue and Park Street in Bowling Green kicks off Wednesday night.
Crews will establish long-term lane closures expected to cause major delays and traffic queues through next fall.
The $7.4 million project by Scotty’s Contracting and Stone will expand the roadway from four to five lanes. During construction, the Bypass will be reduced to one through lane in each direction, though access to the hospital and nearby businesses will remain open. Key improvements include lengthened left-turn lanes at Fairview Avenue and a new center two-way turn lane to enhance safety and capacity.
