4-H Horse Club Arena Ride Coming Up

The 4-H Horse Club will be busy this spring with educational clinics and show preparations.

The next horse club meeting will be held on Friday, March 20th at the Todd County Extension Arena from 2-4 p.m., located at the extension offices at 240 Pond River Road. This is a curriculum day for the Todd County School District and students will be out of school.

Any students between the ages of nine and 19 and are interested in horses are invited to get involved with the horse club. Extension Agent Lee Ann McCuiston writes they don’t have to own a horse to get involved.

At Friday’s meeting, students will learn to swing a rope lasso at a dummy steer, as well as play horse games in the arena. Helmets are required for students riding horses. 4-H will also have some barrel races with stick horses. McCuiston says there is something for everyone.
