Limited Seats Left In Free Hunter Education Student Safety Course

There are two seats remaining for Todd County Game and Fish Club’s free hunter education safety class.

The three-day course is designed to help students earn their hunter education card, and will take place Thursday, March 26 through Saturday, March 28 at the 1976 Todd County Courthouse, with the exception of Saturday’s meeting.

Thursday and Friday’s classes will begin at 6 p.m. and run until around 9 p.m. at the courthouse, located at 200 E. Washington St. in Elkton. Saturday’s class will take place at the Todd County Gun Club from 7 – 8 a.m.

This training course includes study in hunter ethics, wildlife conservation and identification, field care of game, first aid, firearm safety, archery and muzzle loading. The last session of the course will include a written test and a live fire exercise. All materials including firearms and ammunition will be provided for students at no charge.

Students must attend all sessions in order to receive their hunter education card. The course is open to ages nine and above, but isn’t required until age 12. Kentucky law requires anyone age 12 or older to complete a hunter education course before legally hunting in the state.

Pre-registration for the course is required. Sign up HERE.

Those who can’t make it to Todd County’s training can also attend an all-day training in Trigg County Saturday, March 21 from 9 a.m. – 5 p.m., held at Lancaster Guns in Cadiz.
