Future Business Leaders Of America Club Returns To Todd Central

After 20 years, Todd Central’s FBLA (Future Business Leaders of America) has returned to the school.

TCCHS alumni and club advisor Madison Frogue helped bring back the club after it had been inactive for around 20 years. As part of their relaunch this school year, the TCCHS FBLA chapter has been engaged in community outreach, including a recent presentation to the local Rotary Club.

Frogue says she has a lot of hope and excitement for the business program at Todd County, and one of her main goals is to have the community grow a closer connection to the students.

She is hoping to implement guest speakers from the community in the near future, and is seeking those interested in speaking to the high schoolers or teaching a business-related lesson.

TCCHS senior and FBLA Secretary Jaylyn Mayes says the club is focused on leadership, development, business skills, and career readiness, providing leadership opportunities, scholarships, community services, and real-world business experience to help the club’s mission: inspiring and preparing students to become community-minded business leaders.

FBLA Treasurer Aleycia Osborne, also a senior at TCCHS, says so far, the club has hosted meetings where they build teamwork skills and share ideas on fundraising and growing the organization. They’ve done a few fundraisers during the school year and are currently planning to partner with Regal Cinemas for a fundraising project, as well as doing a trash pickup in the community.

Osborne adds the club traveled to Murray State for an FBLA regional leadership conference earlier this month, where a club member and WEKT’s own Omar Figueroa-Navarrete placed second in broadcast journalism and will advance to the state competition in April.

The chapter also received first place for most members in the large division. The group says they are excited to renew FBLA at Todd Central and develop their business leadership skills.
