Todd County Emergency Management is enhancing its severe weather preparedness by implementing a new testing schedule and expanding digital alert options.
A countywide test of the outdoor tornado siren system is scheduled for Saturday, April 4, 2026, at 12:00 PM. This event marks the start of a new routine where sirens will be tested on the first Saturday of every month at noon to ensure operational readiness. Officials remind the public that these sirens are designed to warn people outdoors. Because building construction and background noise can make sirens difficult to hear inside, residents are urged to maintain multiple backup alert methods such as weather radios, smartphone apps, and local media.
In addition to the existing CodeRED system, the Todd County Fiscal Court is introducing TextMyGov. This new tool allows the county to send weather alerts and official announcements via standard text messaging. Residents may soon receive an introductory text message with instructions on how to opt in or opt out of the service. Notably, the system also allows for two-way communication, giving citizens a direct line to send information or requests to county officials.
Todd County leaders encourage all residents to utilize these additional communication tools to stay informed and safe during the upcoming storm season.
