Former Mayor Scott Marshall officially entered the race for Guthrie’s top office, citing a need for experienced leadership as the city faces its most significant growth in decades.

Marshall, who served 25 years as mayor, returns to the political stage with a track record of fiscal responsibility and massive economic wins, most notably bringing in the $350 million Novelis investment—the largest in Todd County history.

Marshall’s vision for the future centers on navigating Guthrie’s “turning point,” including a $31 million wastewater expansion and new energy infrastructure. He plans to capitalize on the city’s proximity to Clarksville’s rapid growth while addressing local priorities like South Guthrie’s flooding and balanced zoning.

“I’m not running to go backward,” Marshall stated. “Guthrie is at a turning point, and I’m ready to lead again.” A retired paramedic captain with 31 years of experience making decisions under pressure, Marshall has spent the last seven years serving on the Housing Authority and Museum boards to stay connected to the community.

Marshall is the second to file for Guthrie Mayor for the November General Election, behind current city councilman Zollie Rose, who filed to run on January 5th.
