Todd County is reflecting on the life of George Everett “Buddy” Power, who passed away Sunday at the age of 94.
A developer, veteran, and civic leader, he left an impact woven into the very landscape of the community he loved.
A 1948 Elkton High graduate, Buddy served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War before returning home to establish Power Real Estate and Insurance. His vision for local growth is most evident in Georgetown Estates, the residential development he spearheaded that was named in his honor.
Beyond real estate, Buddy was a cornerstone of local commerce, serving for years on the Board of Directors for Elkton Bank and Trust.
A devoted UK Wildcats fan, Buddy was an original supporter of the Todd County football program and a dedicated Little League coach. While he was deeply committed to his community, his greatest pride remained his family—including his three children, five grandchildren, and 14 great-grandchildren.
Instead of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to Todd County Youth Services or Petrie Memorial Methodist Church. Full funeral arrangements can be found here.
