Todd County School Board Member Greg Russell has lived in Todd County all his life.
Russell, who also works for Hopkinsville’s Social Security Administration, is currently in his second year on the school board for District 3. He notes school is going extremely well, and despite the weather challenges, it’s been a smooth year.
When Russell was first selected for the school board in 2024, he said he was eager to bring fresh perspectives and innovative ideas to the schools, creating a nurturing and inclusive environment for all students.
He notes he felt called to run for reelection in order to stand in the gap for those who don’t have a voice, and to be the person that they can come to.
Russell says Black History Month means everything to him.
He adds Todd County has made great strides in this regard, but there are still things to improve upon.
Russell notes one improvement being more involvement from the county’s minority students. He says the opportunities are there, but the students need encouragement from adults in their lives to get involved and engaged.
Russell adds that type of engagement can begin at home.
