The American Red Cross will hold a community blood drive for Todd County at Elkton Baptist Church on Friday, Feb. 6.
The organization is currently facing a severe blood shortage in the nation as requests from hospitals are exceeding the available supply – over the past month, the blood supply was decreased by around 35%. The shortage is especially serious for platelets and type O, A negative and B negative blood.
Individuals who donate blood will be eligible to receive a $20 e-gift card to a merchant of their choice through the Red Cross.
The drive will be held Friday at Elkton Baptist’s CLC building at 301 E. Main St. from 11 a.m. – 5 p.m.
