After last week’s below-freezing temperatures and wintry precipitation, our area will deal with some rain on Tuesday and several chances of above-freezing temperatures.

Keith Cooley, a lead forecaster for the NWS in Paducah, said that temperatures on Tuesday will climb into the 40s, with precipitation starting in the mid-morning hours. It could be considered non-traditional freezing rain.

Cooley added that a warming trend appears to be on the horizon.

He said that overnight lows will remain below the freezing mark through the weekend.

Tuesday’s system will bring minimal rain, as our region remains in the D0 and D1 drought categories.

Cooley added that above-normal temperatures are appearing likely next week.
