The Todd County School District has canceled school Monday, Jan. 26 through Wednesday, Jan. 28 due to Winter Storm “Fern.”
As the storm continues to impact the region with freezing temperatures, hazardous road conditions and power outages, the district has also decided to cancel all athletic events and extracurricular activities during this time.
Monday will be a traditional snow day for students, but Tuesday and Wednesday will be Non-Traditional Instruction (NTI) days, which the district says will allow them to maintain their planned school calendar as much as possible and minimize the need to make up days at the end of the year.
The district notes they understand power outages and limited internet access may impede the ability for students to complete their NTI work, but any NTI assignments that cannot be completed during the school closure can be finished once in-person instruction resumes.
The district says their primary focus is the safety of their students, and they will reevaluate the remainder of the week during the next few days.
