Latest update from Todd County Emergency Management Director Ash Groves:
Todd County Emergency Management is aware of power outages currently affecting portions of the county and has been in direct contact with Pennyrile Electric regarding restoration efforts.
All available electric crews within the county are actively working to repair damaged lines. However, hazardous road conditions are slowing restoration efforts in some areas.
County and state road crews are standing by and prepared to assist in locations that are impassable or require additional treatment to allow utility crews safe access.
Todd County Emergency Management continues to strongly urge residents to stay off roadways unless travel is absolutely necessary. Roads remain dangerous, and any traffic accidents will divert critical resources away from power restoration efforts and emergency response operations.
Residents are also encouraged to check on neighbors, family members, and friends, especially those who are elderly, medically vulnerable, or particularly at risk due to cold weather and power disruptions. A quick check can make a significant difference during prolonged outages and extreme cold.
Reducing travel and looking out for one another allows utility crews, road departments, and first responders to work more efficiently and safely while supporting those most in need.
Todd County Emergency Management will continue to coordinate with Pennyrile Electric and transportation partners and will provide updates as conditions change.
