Mrs. Velda Darlene Shanklin age 56 of Allegre, KY passed away Monday January 12, 2026, at 5:00 a.m. at her residence. Services will be Friday January 16, 2026, 1:00 p.m. with Rev. Fred Harrison officiating at Latham Funeral Home with burial to follow in the McColpin Cemetery in Allegre, KY. Visitation will be on Thursday January 15, 2026, from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Latham Funeral Home.
Velda was born on September 3, 1969 in Russellville, KY. She had been a seamstress at Flynn Enterprise, also employed at Ardco in Elkton and Walmart Distribution Center in Hopkinsville, KY. She was a member of Mt. Tabor Missionary Baptist Church. Velda loved being “Granny”. She is preceded in death by her parents William Allen “Bill” Lamb and Margie Ann Owen Law, her sister Pam Bryant and her stepsister Fay Duncan.
She is survived by her husband of 35 years Eddie Shanklin of Allegre, her daughter Stephanie Shanklin and her granddaughter Kaelin Petrie of the Allegre, her brother Steve Lamb of Allegre, and John Law of Elkton, her sisters Tammy Cardwell of Elkton and Janet Glass of Hopkinsville, KY, her step brother Bobby Law of Allegre, her step sisters May Crafton of Lewisburg and Loyce Wells of Clifty.
