Jerry Wayne Anderson, Jr., 56, of Hopkinsville

The Todd County Funeral Home is honored to have been called to serve the family of Mr. Jerry Wayne Anderson, Jr.

Mr. Jerry Wayne Anderson, Jr., age 56 of Hopkinsville, passed away on Saturday, January 10th at the TriStar Centennial Medical Center in Nashville, Tennessee.

Jerry was born on February 27, 1969, in Nashville, Tennessee, son of Betty Gail Doss Anderson and the late Jerry Wayne Anderson, Sr.

Although Jerry was born with spina bifida, he did not let his disability define him or stop him from reaching his full potential in life. With his parents and loved ones’ full support and motivation, Jerry not only overcame his physical disabilities he also competed in and received numerous medals in Tennessee Youth Games for Physically Disabled and Mid-America Regional Cerebral Palsy Games from 1982 to 1993. He attended Easter Seals Camp and Recreation for People with Disabilities in Mount Juliet, TN, every summer from 1985 to 2002, where he made friends that lasted him a lifetime.

Jerry became a resident of Hearthstone Nursing Home in Elkton, Kentucky, in late 2015 until he passed. He formed more friendships from there, which was easy for Jerry to do because he was kind-hearted and never met a stranger.

Although Jerry never married or had children of his own, he took pride in his nieces and nephews, and he also had several great nieces and nephews.

Above all, the thing that Jerry held most precious in this world was his mother. He loved her more than anything in the world. There wasn’t a time he wouldn’t take a moment to call her and talk about his day and listen to hers.

He was preceded in death by his father. Jerry is survived by his mother, whom he loved very dearly, Betty Gail Anderson of Dawson Springs, Kentucky; a brother, Josh Anderson (Cindy) of Hopkinsville; a sister, Jennifer Anderson of Hopkinsville; nieces, Jessica Delaney, Krystal Leinbach, Aubrey Anderson, Abbigail Dunlavey and Elizabeth Anderson and nephews, Josh Wayne Anderson and Christopher Anderson.

The family chose cremation. There will be a Celebration of Life Service on a later date.

In lieu of flowers, we ask that you donate an act of kindness in memory of Jerry because an act of kindness doesn’t cost a penny but can change a life.
