U.S. 41 near Trenton is now fully open following the completion of cleanup and safety inspections related to the recent CSX train derailment.

Todd County Emergency Management Director Ash Groves announced the reopening, noting that CSX, the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet (KYTC), and local emergency officials had finished debris removal and site stabilization. KYTC officials have inspected the roadway and confirmed it is safe for normal traffic operations. While the roadway is fully open, motorists are encouraged to use caution when traveling through the area due to ongoing monitoring and residual activity associated with the incident.

“Public safety remained the top priority throughout the recovery process,” Groves stated, explaining that the extended closure was necessary to manage heavy truck traffic and ensure the site was secure. Groves also expressed appreciation for the patience of residents and local businesses during the coordinated response.

While additional monitoring of the rail corridor will continue, Groves confirmed there are no remaining traffic impacts associated with the incident.
