Friends of Land Between the Lakes is holding a special New Year’s Day hike for people in the area Thursday, Jan. 1.
Beginners, intermediates and experts alike are invited to join the environmental conservation organization Thursday for a guided hike around Hematite Lake at 10 a.m. The route will follow Hematite Trail, an easy 2.2-mile loop around the lake, located near the Woodlands Nature Station within the National Recreation Area.
The organization says the ground can be wet around the lake, so hikers should wear appropriate shoes.
In case of inclement weather, any cancellation or rescheduling will be announced on the Friends of LBL Facebook page.
