The Blount Rural Health Center in Elkton was able to provide 28 free mammograms to women in the community throughout this past month.
With the help of United Healthcare, the health center organized two days in October and November for women to receive screenings free of charge. The clinic was able to provide free mammograms to 11 women on October 21, and 17 women just last week on November 5.
The health center writes mammograms are one of the most effective tools for detecting breast cancer early, often before any symptoms appear, and expresses their thanks to United Healthcare for helping them to care and serve the Todd County community in such a meaningful way.
Those who missed the free mammogram days are encouraged schedule a screening at the clinic.
