Community help is needed for a feeding program—hosted by Petrie Memorial Methodist Church but widely supported—as they prepare for their November distribution next week.

According to Pastor Willard Knipp, III, the program distributes food through Feeding America—Kentucky’s Heartland.

The program currently helps an average of 208 families monthly, but Knipp noted that the upcoming November and December distributions are always higher.

He expects recent changes to SNAP benefits will drive the number of families needing assistance even higher. To meet this need, the program is asking for donations of canned meats to include in the family food bags.

Knipp added that as they head toward December, the program has another project underway: they are asking for help providing fresh fruit to families before Christmas.

The fruit boxes can be purchased through any Todd Central FFA member and asked to be donated to the food pantry at Petrie Memorial Methodist Church.

The monthly food distribution is held on Tuesday during the second full week of each month. Volunteers begin assembling the food boxes around 9:00 AM, with distribution to families starting at Noon at Petrie’s Community Outreach Building.

If your family needs food assistance, you can call Petrie’s office at (270) 265-2298.
