Blount Rural Health Center Offering Free Mammograms

In honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, Blount Rural Health Center is partnering with United Healthcare to provide free mammograms for women aged 40 and over.

Blount Rural Health recently announced they would be adding another session to the previously one-day event – mammograms will now be available Tuesday, Oct. 21 and again Wednesday, Nov. 5.

Priority will be given to uninsured individuals, but those with health insurance are still encouraged to call the health center for availability. Time slots will range from 9 a.m. – 4 p.m. both days.

The American College of Radiology reports more women are diagnosed with breast cancer than ever before, but in the U.S., its mortality rate has decreased by 40% since 1990, thanks, in large part, to early detection and the growing use of mammograms.

Individuals should call the Blount Rural Health Center at 270-265-5600 and ask for Jill to schedule an appointment.
