Building on the success of her first “Notables of Todd County” book, Carolyn Wells has been busy writing the second edition in the series.

Wells told Your WEKT News Edge that “Notables of Todd County II” is in the hands of the graphic designer.

Wells shared just a few of the stories you will find in the book.

Plans for the book include it being published by Jostens of Clarksville, with the anticipated book launch for Notables II in early November this year.

Currently, Wells and the Green River Academy Board of Trustees are looking for sponsorships to cover the publishing costs.

To sponsor the book, you can contact any Green River Academy board member, who include: Matt Bailey, Alissa Walsh, Laura Brock, Tonja West, Tommy Hines, Dr. Lisa Petrie, Rita Dillingham, and Wells. You can also email greenriveracademy@gmail.com for more information.

All proceeds from the sale of the book will go to the Green River Academy to continue preservation work on the building located at 204 Goebel Avenue in Elkton. The building was opened in 1835 as a school for children in the region, and many notables of Todd County walked through its halls, including James Clark McReynolds, who would serve as a United States Supreme Court Justice from 1914 to 1941.
