Todd County School District Prepares For First Day With Several Back-To-School Events

As the Todd County School District prepares to begin the new school year next month, there are a few upcoming back-to-school events parents and students should be aware of.

New Superintendent Jessica Addison says TCCHS will hold one more online registration event Thursday, July 24, at the school from noon – 7 p.m.

She adds teachers are currently preparing for open house events for the district, with both elementary schools’ on Thursday, July 31, Todd Middle’s on Friday, Aug. 1 and TCCHS’s on Monday, Aug. 4.

Addison says open houses are a great time for parents and students to build positive relationships with teachers, view class schedules and learn about school transportation.

There are also several free school supply distribution events coming up in the county.

Todd County’s Laity and Ministers Alliance is holding a backpack and school supply distribution event Sunday, July 27 at 5 p.m. in the TCCHS parking lot, where they will be giving away backpacks filled with school supplies for all grade levels.

Several local churches and businesses are also sponsoring a similar event at Clifty Park Wednesday, July 30 at 5:30 p.m., and the next week on Wednesday, Aug. 3, Macedonia Baptist in Guthrie will be handing out free school supplies at the church from noon – 2 p.m.

The first day of school for the district is Tuesday, Aug. 5. Preschoolers will begin class Wednesday, Aug. 13.
