Elkton welcomed its newest gym at the beginning of the month, and it’s currently seeking new members.
Located at 305 N. Main Street, Elkton Wellness Center offers personal training, fitness groups, classes such as line dancing, self-defense, aerobic hip hop, and standard gym amenities and equipment, says owner Shelby Basham.
She adds she is also hoping to add yoga classes soon. Basham, an occupational therapist for Todd County’s school district, along with her coworker saw the need for a gym in the county and decided to take it upon themselves to open one of their own for the community.
During the month of July, the gym is running a promotion for a $28.99 monthly membership fee, plus a $25 sign-up fee. If the gym is able to get 100 members this month, Basham will lock in the monthly price for everyone who joined during the promotion. If prices ever rise, their monthly fee will remain the same.
Thursday, July 10, for one day only, all funds from any $25 sign-up fees will go directly toward the Ronald McDonald House Charity in Nashville, Tennessee. The non-profit supports families with sick children by providing them with a place to stay near the hospital where their child receives treatment. Basham is donating her sign-up fees to the Ronald McDonald House in honor of her late daughter, Addison, and will also be accepting any private monetary donations.
Elkton Wellness Center is currently only open for limited hours this month, but after its grand opening on August 1st, it will be open 24/7 for gym-goers. Memberships give access to the gym equipment, all classes, and 24/7 exercise. Basham says she has such a big vision for the space and what she can provide for the community.
Interested members can sign up for their Elkton Wellness membership in person or through its Facebook page.
