B R Knuckles Insurance Continues Decades-Long July 3 Celebration

Elkton’s B. R. Knuckles July 3 Celebration has been a Todd County tradition for around 25 years.

Johnny Knuckles, the man behind the event, says the tradition technically began behind an old Chevron gas station in Elkton.

Since then, Knuckles has earned his pyrotechnics license and outgrown his fireworks location quite a few times as the show gets larger and larger each year.

Knuckles always enjoys the atmosphere on Elkton’s square and is very excited about this year’s celebration.

Besides celebrating God and country, Knuckles says it’s also a way for B. R. Knuckles Insurance to give back to its community.

Knuckles charges a vendor fee to all food trucks, which is then donated to a local charity, which Knuckles will share during Thursday’s festivities.

The celebration will begin at 6 p.m. on the square with the biggest fireworks display so far, beginning around 9 p.m.
